SO, THIS JUST HAPPENED…

ERS News and Announcements

After 18 months, we were finally able to perform in front of a live audience when we premiered Baldwin and Buckley at Cambridge at the Philadelphia Fringe Festival. We had great (fully masked and vaccinated) audiences. You can read more about the premiere in the Broad Street Review. The show will tour extensively next year and we will keep you updated as performance dates are announced.

Just added to our merch store: you can rep ERS in the streets this fall in a brand new embroidered hoodie and beanie, or at home with an ERS mug for your cup of coffee before a day of Zoom meetings. Shop the entire collection of ERS show and logo merch right from our website.

Where were you born?: Plainview, NY

Worst job you ever had: Weekend birthday clown. Hired with a couple of college friends, we drove our own cars filled to the brim with balloon pumps, candy machines & character costumes; had to negotiate cash-only contracts at the start of the parties; the outfit was the same Halloween single-use one-ply plaid number, no makeup; was ransacked with a vengeance by at least two sets of older siblings every weekend; my bunny that I used for my party-stopper magic shows had a heart attack; pretty sure it was & still is a drug front. And for the cherry on top: the boss’ name was Adolf. The pay was pretty good though.

Left-handed or right? Left handed!! Always in my right mind. (I believe the brain hemisphere/dexterity argument was debunked, so take that, self.)

Which do you prefer french toast, pancakes, or waffles? This is a toughy for a diabetic, but I’m going to go for a pancake because I have cultivated my own sourdough pancake recipe, and to use a Long Island hyper colloquialism – it’s the jump off.

What do you love about what you do? I love being dedicated to playing. It keeps life so fresh.

Favorite ERS show (whether you were involved with it or not)  Fondly, Collette Richland. It was 50 years ahead of its time. We’re going to remount it in 2065.

Best thing about working with ERS:  The people!! Every time I walk into the office, into rehearsal, or run into an ERS folx, I know that shared space between us all is a moving and thriving relationship built on trust, dedication, acceptance and humor.

He is also making a video game called Lost Sea. A physical arcade version is in the works.

In addition to listening to April Matthis, you can see her as an Air Force captain who’s grounded when she claims to spot a UAP (unidentified aerial phenomena) in a recent episode of EVIL called “U is for UFO” on Paramount +.

Parts 1 & 1.5 of the Securely Conferred, Vouchsafed Keepsakes of Maery S. by Sibyl Kempson will screen live & in-person at the NEW Chocolate Factory Theater on October 31st, and then streams from Abrons Arts Center November 4th – December 22nd. The second half will screen next year.

Sibyl is also still posting bi-weekly StarShine Show AstroCasts for each New and Full Moon on Patreon. She will be in conversation with astrologers Omie Johnson & Satori Harris. Here’s the link, and proceeds benefit the work of 7 Daughters of Eve Thtr. & Perf. Co.

Robert Johanson and Kate Scelsa will present a work-in-progress showing of their new opera Hilma, inspired by the Swedish artist and mystic Hilma af Klint, with two showings on Oct 21st at 6:30 and 8:00pm at the Collapsable Hole, 155 Bank St. Manhattan. Proof of vaccination and mask-wearing will be required, seating is limited, tickets are free – email kate.eliz@gmail.com to make a reservation. Made possible by NYFA’s City Artist Corps.
