Baldwin and Buckley at Cambridge
In 1965 James Baldwin and William F. Buckley, Jr. were invited to The Cambridge University Union to debate the resolution “The American Dream is at the Expense of The American Negro.” ERS re-creates their profoundly relevant confrontation in Baldwin and Buckley at Cambridge.
Baldwin and Buckley at Cambridge had its first work-in-progress showings in January of 2020 at Abrons Art Center’s Underground Theater. The show went on to have its World Premiere at the Philadelphia FringeArts Festival on September 9th, 2021, and its New York premiere at the Public Theater in the fall of 2022.
Upcoming July 2023 engagements will receive support from Villa Albertine and are also supported by Mid Atlantic Arts through USArtists International in partnership with the National Endowment for the Arts and the Mellon Foundation.
