Seagull
ERS’s take on Anton Chekhov’s The Seagull reimagines the classic drama by blurring the line between a play and a frank chat with the audience. Actors become characters becoming actors becoming characters and truth is twisted into lies and, ultimately, into a truthful rendering of the text. The performance features ERS’s signature choreography and a richly layered sound design.
Seagull was developed in part at The Collapsable Hole, La MaMa ETC studios, and the Lumberyard Center for Film and Performing Arts. This work is made possible, in part, with public funds from the New York State Council on the Arts with the support of Governor Andrew Cuomo and the New York State Legislature, and from the New York City Department of Cultural Affairs in partnership with the City Council.
ERS would also like to thank Ariana Smart Truman, Mark Rossier, LUMBERYARD Center for Film and Performing Arts (Adrienne Willis, Executive and Artistic Director), and Oskar Eustis.
